Umm, I have not freaked out and obviously you care, or you would not be still here.

The existence of Jesus Christ is an article of faith, not an historical fact. Outside of the Bible there are no contemporary reports of his existence and there would be as the Bible claims Jesus' fame spread throughout the land. We have a lot of historians reporting on various things in that time and place and none mention Jesus or any Christians. Christians humiliate themselves in this argument by having to resort to spurious hearsay accounts from writers who were not even alive during the time Jesus supposedly lived when pressed for extra-biblical evidence. These are known to be Christian forgeries anyway as early Christianity was a literal fabrication factory. The elephant in the room for Christians is the fact that there are no historical accounts contemporary or otherwise that mention any of the supposed apostles either. Nothing about Paul preaching on Mars Hill. No mention of Peter bringing new doctrine to Rome. No accounts of any disciples being martyred for their faith. History is completely silent when it comes to anything mentioned in the New Testament. No mention of Herod's slaughter of the innocents. No mention of any trial, crucifixion or resurrection and outside of the fictional characters in the Bible there are no witnesses to any of it. No mention of the world going dark or dead people climbing out of their graves and appearing to many other people in Jerusalem. I think that might have caught someone's attention had it actually happened don't you? There is no question as to whether Jesus Christ existed. He clearly did not.

It is quite easy to make the bible say anything you want when taking verses out of context. Taken in context and with study throughout, the Bible is very clear as all of it presents common and interrelated themes. Much of the OT was fulfilled by the NT as shadow images became real as played out in the NT. Much study brings clarification, that's why the Vatican forbade its adherents reading it for themselves - on pain of death for over 15 centuries. That makes the self serving intents and purposes of the Vatican abundantly obvious. Ditto for any other wannabes.

Thanks for another thoughtful comment, greenpeace. I?ve enjoyed the dialogue. I generally stick to original sources, but Bergson is one whose original work I?ve never read (much of). I have a couple books of his sitting on my Kindle, but haven?t gotten around to them. This convo is getting him back onto my to-read list. I think you might like him quite a bit. He was a philosophy star for a minute in the early 20th century, but then quickly fell out of fashion as he rose to prominence about the same time as Einstein?s general relativity took center-stage. He famously debated Einstein about whether time or space is primary, with (of course) Einstein arguing for space. ?The world? agreed with Einstein and Bergson was basically forgotten. But he has made a comeback, and obviously with his emphasis on time, he fits nicely with process philosophy and theology. He also fits kind of perfectly with your earlier comments about ?wave mechanics? and the ?hologram model.? Some years ago, I read a book by a guy named Stephen Robbins called ?Time and Memory: A primer on the scientific mysticism of consciousness? in which he used Bergson?s conception of consciousness to posit a combination of those ideas. Basically, he asserts that Bergson thought of the brain as what we might now call a ?modulated reconstructive wave? passing through a holographic field, in terms of how we perceive and construct our experience of reality. You might find Bergson (and Robbins) very pertinent to your approach. Again, I haven?t read Bergson and obviously he wrote long before the hologram was a glint in anyone?s eye, so I don?t know how directly his language (or its translation into English) conforms to the framework in which Robbins presents his views.
